Celebrity Homes: Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen
Gisele Bündchen is one of the most famous supermodels in the world, and her husband, Tom Brady, is arguably the greatest NFL quarterback of all-time. Together, they epitomize the term, “power couple.” While Bündchen and Brady are always seen sporting the newest fashion, the notion that they are all about style and luxury is false. In fact, when they settled on Los Angeles’s Brentwood neighborhood to plant their roots, their main focus was creating a home for their entire family to be able to spend time together. On the other hand, the couple did hire architect Richard Landry and interior designer Joan Behnke to create their masterpiece, which means that there is still plenty of luxury elements. The house itself is 14,000 square feet and features six bedrooms.
Comfort Is Key
As mentioned above, the first priority for the superstar couple was to create a place of comfort. Bündchen explained in an article with Architectural Digest that she truly enjoys simplicity and coziness when it comes to her home. Brady agreed with keeping it simple, stating, “Gisele and I have eight sisters between us, and there are lots of kids. We built this house as a sanctuary for our family—a place where we can enjoy being together.”
Protecting The Environment
Another major focus for them was living responsibly. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise, considering Bündchen is a global ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme. A primary objective was to use as many recycled components as possible, in order to minimize the impact the home had on the environment and surrounding lands. Landry utilized a process called composting, as well as gray-water technology for irrigation. In addition, the famous architect installed two large sections of photovoltaic solar panels that would take care of all the property’s electricity needs. One section of panels is located on the roof of the house, and the other is next to the garden.
